Everton transfer target Troy Parrott has just sent Ireland into a complete frenzy

Everton are eyeing a move for Troy Parrott ahead of the January transfer window, and his stock has just risen dramatically this afternoon.

David Moyes is keen to sign a centre-forward this winter as Beto and Thierno Barry have failed to deliver so far this season.

Tim Sherwood reckons Beto and Barry are holding Everton back as they’re quite simply just not good enough.

Former Brentford and now Al-Ahli frontman Ivan Toney has been linked with a move to the Toffees, and so too has Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee.

Sources have also told Everton News that Moyes had scouts watching Ireland’s Troy Parrott against Portugal earlier this week.

Parrot, who plays his club football for AZ Alkmaar, was in action against Hungary this afternoon, and he’s just sent his country into a complete frenzy.

Everton target Troy Parrott nets hat-trick for Ireland vs Hungary

Ireland simply had to beat Hungary this afternoon to qualify for the World Cup play-offs, and they managed to secure the three points in stoppage time.

Parrott completed his hat-trick in the 96th minute to send the visiting away supporters and everyone back home in Ireland into total raptures.

The clip of Parrott’s winning goal has immediately gone viral, and the striker will no doubt become an overnight superstar in Ireland.

That sensational display would’ve certainly added a fair few millions onto his pricetag, and Everton, as a result, could face added competition for his signature this winter.

The 23-year-old scored two against Portugal earlier this week and has netted 13 goals in 14 games for Alkmaar this term.

Everton must sign Troy Parrott before he becomes unattainable

Parrott has always been destined to achieve big things, but for whatever reason, it didn’t quite work out at Tottenham Hotspur after graduating through the ranks.

The 2002-born has had to prove himself overseas in Holland, and he’s certainly done exactly that, netting 30 goals in 60 Eredivisie games.

A return to the Premier League feels inevitable, and Everton must try to land his signature in January before he becomes unattainable.

At the rate Parrott’s going, he’s on course to become a striker worth upwards of £40m within the next year.

That kind of money may be too much for Everton, having shelled out in excess of £100m in the summer, so perhaps a bid in the region of £30m could be enough to strike a deal this winter.

Parrott is a different profile of striker to Beto and Barry, so he’d be the perfect addition to Moyes’ squad.
