It has been a wild week in Philadelphia with all the drama involved with A.J. Brown and the Eagles, but for the fans, it's another week in the season.
NBC's John Clark first reported on what happened during Thursday's practice, as the Eagles prepared to face the Detroit Lions in Week 11, including an unusual meeting that took place on the field. ESPN's Sal Paolantonio added to the report, saying that Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro set up an impromptu meeting between Brown and owner Jeffrey Lurie, where the two had a pleasant conversation about Brown's frustrations with the offense and his comments on his Twitch stream, along with social media posts throughout the season.
After a good conversation, Brown promised Lurie that he would stop using social media to air out his complaints. Lurie responded by telling him he has nothing to apologize for, and they concluded the 10-minute meeting with a hug.
Brown makes a great promise, but he really doesn't have to
Do Eagles fans want Brown to use social media and streams to complain? Not necessarily, but let's be honest, he hasn't been wrong about anything he has said.
Brown has complained about the offense and his lack of targets, which are valid points. He's been to two Pro Bowls and has recorded over 1,000 yards in each of the last three years in an Eagles uniform, but now he is pacing to get barely 700 yards.
For the Eagles to be victorious, they need to get their star wide receiver more involved in the passing game. This offense has ranked in the bottom 10 in total offense, passing, and rushing.
It's a positive sign for Lurie to back his wide receiver up. For Lurie to hold such a public meeting with his receiver is rare for him to do, but it is a necessary step to take in showing the Eagles are open about their problems and can solve them anywhere.
