A.J. Brown met Eagles owner amid tensions with Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles (7-2) are going through a rough patch in the 2025 NFL season. Wide receiver A.J. Brown has shared cryptic messages on social media about his role on the offense and has been vocal when directly asked about the current issues in his unit.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts’ approach reportedly has multiple players “frustrated,” with Brown being one of them. ESPN reporter Sal Paolantonio revealed that Brown had a brief meeting with team owner Jeffrey Lurie on Thursday during “Sunday NFL Countdown.”

“A very unusual thing happened on Thursday at practice. Highly unusual,” Paolantonio told Mike Greenberg. “A meeting on the field between AJ Brown, the disgruntled wide receiver, and team owner, Jeffrey Lurie, facilitated by Chief Security Officer, Dom DiSandro, who is also an assistant to the general manager and in charge of coaching gameday operations.

Paolantonio noted that three things came from that brief reunion.

“AJ Brown pledged to the owner to cut down on the number of social media references he has on the team’s offense; basically, tone it down. It was a very amicable meeting.”

Lurie reportedly told Brown he didn’t need to apologize for his recent behavior, and the pair shared a hug before the player resumed practice. Paolantonio said that Lurie is used to talking to his players, DiSandro or anybody who thinks things should be done differently.

Now, the Eagles will host the Detroit Lions, hoping to improve to 8-2 against a team that can be their biggest threat to repeat as NFC champions this campaign. The Eagles remain one of the best teams in the league, but these issues could play against them down the road.

Everybody needs to be on the same page if they want to win another Super Bowl. Brown stated he was happy with them winning last year, but he didn’t like seeing the defense carry the offense when they have a plethora of talent.
