Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin offered key injury updates following the team’s 34-12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon after QB Aaron Rodgers and RB Jaylen Warren failed to finish the game.
“Aaron’s obviously out with a wrist injury,” Tomlin told reporters via the team’s YouTube channel. “It’ll be evaluated in the morning. I’ll give you guys more information here. Ke’Shawn Williams had a concussion; he’s in the protocol. Jaylen Warren had an ankle; think he was able to return.”
Rodgers suffered the hand injury late in the first half after taking a hard hit by multiple Bengals defenders. He gripped his hand/wrist, his non-throwing one, but finished the drive. He threw a third-down incompletion to WR Roman Wilson that led to K Chris Boswell’s field goal. Rodgers did not come out of the tunnel to begin the second half and reporters did not seem to spot him the rest of the game. Mason Rudolph played in the second half, going 12-of-16 for 127 yards and one touchdown.
Pittsburgh called Rodgers questionable and then did not update his status the rest of the game. Tomlin said he did not know if Rodgers could’ve returned to the game if needed. Per local reporter Shelby Cassesse, Rodgers was spotted leaving the stadium before media members could enter the locker room. His injured wrist was tucked into his pocket.
We saw Aaron Rodgers leaving the stadium before the locker room opened to us.
He was in street clothes with his left hand tucked in his hoodie pocket.

Warren twisted his leg/ankle in the second half. He limped off the field under his own power. Warren briefly returned to the game but came off the field after a timeout. He did not see the field the rest of the game, though the CBS broadcast showed him with his helmet on (he never takes it off) celebrating with RB Kenneth Gainwell after his second receiving touchdown of the day.
Before leaving, Warren had 10 carries for 62 yards. He also caught two passes for five yards. Gainwell and rookie RB Kaleb Johnson finished the game with Gainwell getting the bulk of the work.
Williams was concussed on the opening kickoff. Calvin Austin III replaced him as the Steelers’ punt returner.
During the game, CB Brandin Echols left twice with minor injuries but returned to finish the game. A return that was needed with FS Jalen Ramsey ejected for throwing a punch at Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase during the second half.
Pittsburgh entered the game with a handful of injuries. EDGE Alex Highsmith (pec), ILB Cole Holcomb (illness), and CB Darius Slay (concussion) were all inactive.
Tomlin will offer his next formal update during his Tuesday press conference.
The Steelers will take on the Chicago Bears next Sunday at 1 PM/EST.
