Chelsea and Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez has named his five favorite teammates, a blend of national and club players. During an appearance on Koora Break, the 24-year-old singled out Lionel Messi, Cristian Romero, Cole Palmer, Julian Alvarez, and Moises Caicedo as his preferred on-field companions.
Fernandez has played alongside all five, whether at River Plate, with the Argentina national team, or at Chelsea. Messi, Romero, and Alvarez have been instrumental in the recent triumphs of the world champions, while Palmer and Caicedo are integral to Chelsea’s revamped squad under Enzo Maresca.
Alongside Messi and Romero, Fernandez has been a key figure in Argentina’s recent successes, contributing to their 2022 FIFA World Cup victory in Qatar and their continued dominance at the 2024 Copa America.
Alvarez shares a special bond with the Chelsea midfielder. They first played together at River Plate, where they secured the Argentine Primera Division and the Trofeo de Campeones in 2021. Later, they reunited to celebrate Argentina’s World Cup and Copa America wins.
Palmer and Caicedo have become Fernandez’s closest teammates at Chelsea. The three were instrumental in Chelsea’s revival, winning the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League with a 4-1 victory over Real Betis. They followed this up with a 3-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, adding significant European and global trophies to their collection.
Enzo Fernandez Speaks on UCL/PL Title Dream at Chelsea
Enzo Fernandez has shared his aspirations for his time at Chelsea, stating that his ultimate goal is to lift either the UEFA Champions League or the Premier League trophy with the team. The Argentine midfielder discussed his ambitions in an interview with Koora Break, considering his aims in west London as the Blues seek to reclaim their status as a top contender.
The midfielder joined Chelsea in January 2023, making the move for a British-record transfer fee, and joined a squad going through a challenging phase. Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League during the 2022-23 season, failing to qualify for European competition.
However, the team slowly improved, finishing sixth in 2023-24, and then achieving a top-four finish and Champions League qualification under Enzo Maresca the following season.
In an interview with Koora Break, Fernandez expressed his aspirations:
“My dream is to win the Champions League or the Premier League with the club. We know what that means for the club. We try to represent in the best way every day and every game.”
At just 24, he’s become a linchpin in Chelsea’s midfield, providing goals and a creative spark while orchestrating play from a deeper position. He’s already collected some impressive hardware during his time at Stamford Bridge: the Conference League trophy and Club World Cup.
