Report: David Moyes stance on Ivan Toney explained as Everton eye January swoop

Everton are interested in signing Ivan Toney as David Moyes considers another striking addition in January.

This is the final international break before the January transfer window, and Everton may well have used this time to formulate some plans.

Everton have shown signs of becoming a very good team this season, but it’s clear that a few transfer windows are required.

Thierno Barry is a long-term project for Everton, and another striker could come in just months after the Frenchman’s arrival.

Midtjylland’s Franculino Dju is on Everton’s radar, while speculation surrounding Ivan Toney is ramping up.

David Moyes stance on Everton target Ivan Toney

Reports in recent days have suggested that Everton want Ivan Toney and Joshua Zirkzee in January.

Zirkzee is stuck on the Manchester United bench, while Toney is currently in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.

A return to the Premier League is surely Toney’s only hope of breaking back into the England squad for the World Cup.

Everton could offer that return to England, and the Daily Mail have explained David Moyes’ stance.

It’s stated that Moyes is a long-time admirer of Toney and has followed his progress in the Middle East.

Moyes would allegedly be ‘at the head of the queue’ for Toney’s signature if he becomes available in January.

Toney has been on Moyes’ wish list for a while now, and January may represent the best chance to sign him.

Al-Ahli standing firm on Ivan Toney

Toney would surely relish a return to the Premier League, and Moyes can certainly offer him a starring role at Everton.

Wages will be a problem, and Al-Ahli are not keen on the idea of letting Toney leave.

Al-Ahli director Rui Pedro Braz ruled out Toney leaving in recent days, claiming that rumours about his exit are ‘not based on reality’.

That may be easy to say in November, but Premier League interest is bound to mount ahead of the January window.

Everton will seemingly be interested, in the hope of adding Toney’s proven Premier League goalscoring record to Moyes’ squad.
