Elche CF’s Rodrigo Mendoza has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester City.
That’s according to Tuttosport, and they cover Manchester City interest when reporting on Juventus’ desire to sign the 20-year-old.
Mendoza joined the Spanish club’s academy in 2019 and was promoted to their first team in 2022. He was part of the Spanish club’s squad that secured promotion to the top flight.
The midfielder has already played 10 matches for the La Liga side this season and his rise hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Last summer, Elche turned down offers from Saudi Arabia. Back in August, they rewarded him with an improved contract, lasting until 2028. The report says this contract includes a €20m release clause, which is also negotiable.
Tuttosport report the Spain U21 international needs a physical and dynamic midfielder next to him to perform at his best. At Juventus, there are a few options as a partner.
Juve aren’t alone as Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested in the youngster. It’s claimed Pep Guardiola’s side are moving on Mendonza, who is also been followed by Real Madrid for a while.
His €20m clause is certainly affordable for Manchester City. Juve seem keen and are said to be challenging top clubs for Mendonza’s signature.
Monday’s edition of AS relays Tuttosport’s report and adds that Arsenal are also in the picture.
