Alan Myers reckons David Moyes will target these three positions for Everton in January

The January transfer window is approaching rapidly, and Everton are expected to dip into the market to reinforce their ranks.

Everton spent in excess of £100m in the summer transfer window, but they still have areas of their squad that need addressing.

David Moyes has made it clear he wants to qualify for Europe this season, so he will be desperate to add more quality this winter.

Everton have been linked with Troy Parrott over the last week, or so, with a striker clearly top of the wishlist.

With that said, Everton News columnist Alan Myers has now shared the three positions Moyes is likely to target in the market.

David Moyes could try to sign three players this January

Writing in his Monday column, Myers reckons Moyes could look to sign three players in three different positions during the January transfer window.

“I also think along with a striker, a right-back and a central midfielder will also be on David Moyes’ radar,” the Toffees reporter wrote.

“So the Everton boss will want bodies in as the winter months take their toll on the squad. I believe the recruitment set-up will be in a stronger position come January too. They’ve had time now to understand relationships and how each other operates, that will allow them to be ready to act quickly.

“The biggest issue ahead of the window opening again will be the availability of the right players. Everton’s owners TFG will provide the funds if they are there, but the manager and the recruitment team will already know what and who they want, and I don’t believe they will stray too far from that list.”

Which players could be on Everton’s transfer shortlist?

Well, we know that Parrott, Toney and Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee have been linked to Everton in recent months.

Potential midfield targets for Moyes could include Palmeiras’ Alan and Napoli’s Scott McTominay, although the latter seems unlikely.

On the full-back front, Hector Fort was a summer target, and Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez was also on the Scotsman’s radar, so those deals could be revisited.

Napoli and Everton are both keen on Sevilla full-back Juanlu Sánchez, but the La Liga side are holding out for €20m.

After a big summer spend, Everton will likely have to raise funds through player trading if they’re to bring in another three players.

James Garner has been linked with a move away, but Moyes will certainly be desperate to retain his signature.
