Nobody will deny that Josh Hines-Allen has left a bit to be desired this season. Although he's shown in past years that he can play at a high level, he hasn't made nearly enough disruptive plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars. That said, the two-time Pro Bowl nod reminded everyone just how dominant he can be in the 35-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hines-Allen entered the game with 55 sacks, tied with Tony Brackens for the most in franchise history. He needed one to claim the record for himself, and he got it when he brought down Justin Herbert in Week 11.

Now, Hines-Allen is the sole owner of a franchise record that stood unbroken for more than 20 yards. And along the way, he reminded everyone just how dominant he can be when he hits his stride.
Josh Hines-Allen is thrilled he broke the Jaguars sack record during the win vs. the Chargers
Josh Hines-Allen met with the local media after the win over the Chargers and noted that he was hyped up to get the record, noting that he's grateful the feat happened in a win.
"It felt great. I think our energy was up all game, from the beginning, from the first play of defense, tried to get the intentional grounding. I wish they could call those sacks to affect the game in first, second, and third down just to get off the field," Hines-Allen said about breaking the record. "And then first, second, down, third. Our energy was high, and special teams just here, we had a heck of a game on kickoff, made a lot of big plays for us in an offense, man, it was just unbelievable to be a part of."
Hines-Allen continued, "And for me, just to break the record, it was just cool from the many achievements that had happened today. So cool to be a part of that and just keep stacking. "
Trevor Lawrence, for his part, was hyped up to see his long-time teammate set a new sack record, noting that the two have dealt with a lot.
"I can't say enough good things about Josh. We've been through a lot here together, and man, just the way he works, the way he goes to work every day, the person. He deserves it, man, he's a great person, great player. Obviously, that speaks for itself, but it's cool seeing the right people be able to do things like that," Lawrence said (5:44 mark).
Hines-Allen finished the Chargers game with a 90.4 Pro Football Focus overall grade, the highest mark among Jags defenders. He registered a team-best five total pressures and the record-setting sack. Below are his remarks about setting a new franchise record.

The Jaguars need Josh Hines-Allen to build off of his record-breaking performance
Good things happen when Josh Hines-Allen gets to the quarterback, and he proved it in the win over the Chargers. He now needs to build off his record-breaking outing. If he does, hardly anyone will remember that he got off to a slow start this season.
Heck, the main reason that Hines-Allen has been the subject of criticism in recent weeks is that he's shown he can play at a high level but has failed to do it on a consistent basis this season. However, he proved that the noise will decrease if he executes.
Ultimately, Josh Hines-Allen set a new franchise record for fans on a day in which the Jaguars won, so he won't have to worry about the stench of a loss overshadowing his illustrious achievement.
