Chelsea aren’t expected to do any major business in this January, and when it comes to the first team we expect at most one in and no more than a couple out.
But the project continues at youth level, with the Blues looking to constantly add new talents in younger age groups who can develop into top stars with time.
These players are often so young and inexperienced that the deals come out of nowhere, and that’s just what’s happened with Deinner Ordonez this week.

From nowhere last night Fabrizio Romano put out the news that Chelsea had signed the 16 year old, who will not arrive in Europe for more than two years.
Once he’s 18, he will join the Blues in January 2028. That gives him plenty of time to keep playing and maturing at Independiente del Valle, the club which developed Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez. Some are saying the young centre back is the best player
But of course signing players at such a ridiculously young age is always a huge gamble. It’s hard enough to predict the career trajectory and ceiling of a player at 18, let alone 16. But clearly all the evidence is that this kid is worth the risk. It will be a long time before he’s even on these shores, but we’ll make sure you’re kept updated with his progress in the time until then.
In other news…
Matt Law has shut down any dreams Chelsea fans had of signing either of two Real Madrid attackers who have been linked with moves away from the club this winter.
Moises Caicedo did a little international break feature where he talked through some quick fire questions on Chelsea’s fastest, strongest and funniest players, among other things.
