Wharton transfer update & Salah club vs. country storm brewing? – Latest LFC News

Adam Wharton, Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate were all in the news on Monday. Here we round up all the top stories and transfer rumours for Liverpool FC.

Liverpool NOT in talks for Adam Wharton

It was claimed last week that Liverpool had opened talks with Crystal Palace over a deal for 22-year-old midfielder Wharton.

However sources close to the Premier League champions have told This Is Anfield that this is not the case.

Wharton can certainly be considered on the radar of those within Liverpool’s recruitment structure but the England international is not an active target.

Palace are looking to tie Wharton down to a new long-term contract with suggestions that could include a release clause amid widespread interest.

Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid are all linked – just don’t expect Liverpool to be making moves just yet.

Liverpool FC: On this day

On this day in 1959, Liverpool were dealt the news of manager Phil Taylor’s resignation, after leading the club for a total of 150 games.

Taylor, who featured 345 times for the club as a player, explained: “The strain of it all has made me very tired at times and I decided, great as is my love for Liverpool, to resign.”

A month later Liverpool appointed the great Bill Shankly – and the rest is history.
