West Ham United Women finally earned a long-awaited league victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating Everton Women 3–1 at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Following weeks of frustration and narrow defeats, the Hammers produced one of their most confident performances of the season, taking control early and refusing to let Everton settle.

West Ham struck the opener in the 32nd minute, when Anouk Denton arrived at the perfect moment to pop it into the top corner. Just nine minutes later, the Hammers doubled their advantage as a dangerous in-swinging delivery from Viviane Asseyi caused chaos, allowing Amber Tysiak to power home a close-range header and give West Ham a well-earned 2–0 lead before the interval.

After the restart, West Ham remained sharp and their patience was rewarded again in the 54th minute when Shekiera Martinez timed her run perfectly, collected a clever pass, and steered a composed finish beyond the Everton goalkeeper for 3–0.

Everton did manage a late goal through Katja Snoeijs, but it arrived far too late to change the mood. West Ham controlled the tempo, restricted Everton’s biggest threats, and looked confident in every department, something supporters had been desperate to see.

The energy in midfield was relentless, the back line stood firm, and the forwards finally found the clinical touch they had been so badly missing in previous weeks.

After the match, manager Rehanne Skinner praised the character her squad showed throughout the 90 minutes. “We’ve been on the wrong side of a few results lately, but the performances have been building," she said. "Today the players showed real belief, and I’m proud of how they stuck to the game plan. This was a win we absolutely earned,” she said.

Goalscorer Amber Tysiak echoed her manager’s words, highlighting how important the victory felt inside the dressing room. “We’ve been working incredibly hard and we knew a performance like this was coming," she added. "To score and help the team get three points means everything. Now we have to push on and keep this momentum going,” she said afterwards.

While there is still plenty of work to do, the three points narrow the gap on the teams above and give belief into a squad that has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks but lacked the reward to match their performances.

Attention now turns to next week, where West Ham face another important test and a fixture that will demand the same. With confidence finally beginning to return and momentum shifting in their favour, the challenge now is consistency.

Skinner and her squad know that one win - the highlights from which you may watch below - won’t fix everything, but it can be the spark that ignites their season. Next week offers the perfect chance to build on this foundation and continue their climb up the league.
