And now, Cade Cunningham.The young Detroit Pistons All-Star guard has officially stepped into sneaker royalty as just the sixth active NBA player to land a Nike signature shoe, revealed exclusively in Boardroom’s November Cover Story during his sit-down with Kevin Durant.“I haven’t really grasped it yet. … Man, it’s crazy. Dream come true,” Cunningham told Durant. [embedded content]Durant, who has 18 models of his own signature line with The Swoosh, recalled a phone call the two shared this offseason, when they connected about what it truly means to have your own shoe with a brand like Nike. His advice from a signature veteran to the newest member of the club?“Make sure you hands-on with all the designs, man. This shit is fun,” Durant told Cunningham. “It’s fun once you really put your hands on it. Early on in my career, I was more like, ‘Alright, just give me a shoe, and I’ll just put it on.’ But as I got older, I really started to value from the ground up, the whole process. It’s a part of your legacy. That’s who you are.
