Philadelphia Eagles experience setback after injury to star offensive lineman Lane Johnson

The Philadelphia Eagles won their fourth straight game and improved to an 8-2 record this NFL season with a 16-9 home victory over the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football.

Philadelphia’s offense, however, hasn’t been in the best form in the past couple of weeks and has also come under its’ fair share of scrutiny.

And now, the Eagles’ will have to find a way to play better on the offensive side of the ball without the services of star OT Lane Johnson for the next 4-6 weeks, as per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

#Eagles OT Lane Johnson, one of the game’s best, suffered a Lisfranc sprain Sunday, per me and @MikeGarafolo.

He’s out the next 4-6 weeks because of the foot injury, but will seek a second opinion and more tests. This likely lands him on IR, but belief is not season-ending. pic.twitter.com/IGw8BGmkt8

Johnson to probably spend time in IR

Rapoport has reported that Johnson sustained a Lisfranc sprain during the win against Detroit and the foot injury will keep him sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks.

In better news however for Philly, the injury is not expected to end Johnson’s season although he will probably be placed on IR.

Two time Super Bowl champion has been an Eagles stalwart

The former Oklahoma star is currently in his 13th season with Philadelphia after the franchise drafted him with the fourth overall pick in 2013 and so far this year, Johnson had played in 10 games for Nick Sirianni’s squad.

The 35 year old offensive lineman left the matchup against the Lions in the first quarter and given he is expected to be out the next four weeks, Johnson is now set to miss upcoming games against the Cowboys, Bears, Chargers and Raiders.

Johnson could even potentially be unavailable for clashes with the Commanders and Bills if his injury keeps him sidelined for longer.
