Norwich City are searching for a new head coach following the sacking of Liam Manning.

The former Bristol City boss was dismissed after a last-gasp 2–1 defeat to Leicester City – a result that means the Canaries have now lost eight home games at Carrow Road this season.

The defeat left Norwich sitting 23rd in the Championship table, prompting the club to accelerate their recruitment process.

They have held talks with Gary O’Neil, Will Still and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

O’Neil, a former Liverpool coach, met with club officials last week, while further discussions have also taken place with Still and Tomasson.

Manning had previously beaten O’Neil to the job in the summer, but the club maintained communication with the former Wolves boss in the months that followed.

O’Neil recently withdrew from consideration for a surprise return to Wolves, having expressed concerns over the suitability of the role.

Wolves have since appointed Middlesbrough manager Rob Edwards, a former player and coach at Molineux.

O’Neil, who has also managed Bournemouth, has been out of work since his departure from Wolves last December.

The former midfielder racked up 55 appearances for Norwich and won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2015.

According toPinkun, “Gary O’Neil will NOT become the next head coach of Norwich City despite holding talks over the vacancy at Carrow Road.

“The former Wolves and Bournemouth boss was in contention for the role for a second time after speaking to the Canaries in the summer, but is now not expected to progress in the race to succeed Liam Manning.

“It’s understood both parties have decided to move on to other options after those conversations concluded.

“O’Neil is keen to ensure his next job in management is the right one after leaving Wolves last year.”
