The Boston Celtics (7-7) are one of three NBA teams sitting at .500 entering Monday’s action, joining the Orlando Magic (7-7) and Chicago Bulls (6-6). NBC Sports lead NBA writer Kurt Helin said on Monday that the Celtics have been the “unluckiest” team in the league through the early part of the 2025-26 campaign. “The Boston Celtics have been the unluckiest team in the league this season,” Helin wrote. “They have a top-10 ranked offense and defense, and their +4.7 net rating suggests a team that should be 9-5 and sitting in the top five in the East. That doesn’t mean everything is perfect.” He went on to say head coach Joe Mazzulla’s “offensive philosophy” to “launch more 3-pointers than any other team” won’t be changing anytime soon, but with the group making only 34% of their attempts thus far, it’s a “concern.” There have been plenty of positives through the first few weeks of the season, all spent with superstar Jayson Tatum sidelined as he recovers from injury. Boston has also received solid contributions from unlikely sources like forward Jordan Walsh. Even though the Celtics currently allow the fewest points per game (109.2) in the Eastern Conference, there are some obvious flaws with the group. The Celtics face the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night at the Barclays Center.
