Antoine Semenyo has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most in-demand forwards.
Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs monitoring the Bournemouth star ahead of the January transfer window.
The Ghana international was linked with a move away from the south coast during the summer but ultimately signed a new five-year contract with the Cherries.
Semenyo has been in fine form this season, netting six times and registering three assists in 11 Premier League appearances under Andoni Iraola.
It follows a breakout campaign last term in which he registered double figures for the first time in his career – 11 league goals and 13 in all competitions.
Rejected by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Millwall as a youngster, Semenyo eventually joined the football programme at SGS College in Bristol.
Bristol City signed him in 2017, but he required loan spells at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland before establishing himself in the Robins’ first team during the 2020/21 season.
He completed a £10million move to Bournemouth in January 2023 and has developed impressively since, becoming a key figure in Iraola’s system.
His goals were instrumental in Bournemouth’s ninth-place finish last season, achieved despite the club selling three of their back four, Illia Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, for a combined £150million during the summer.
The Cherries also failed to make Kepa Arrizabalaga’s loan move permanent, with the goalkeeper joining Arsenal instead, making Semenyo’s continued presence all the more vital this season.
DaveOCKOP exclusively reported that Liverpool held preliminary talks with Bournemouth last weekend regarding a potential move for the 25-year-old.
The discussions are said to be exploratory, with the Reds seeking to understand Bournemouth’s stance and the possible terms of a deal.
Semenyo has a £65million release clause in his contract, and according to BBC Sport, it can be activated during the first two weeks of the January window.
This is intended to give Bournemouth sufficient time to find a replacement should their star forward depart.
