Liverpool are among a host of Premier League clubs linked with Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, who has emerged as a key figure in Andoni Iraola’s side.

Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur – both of whom failed in attempts to sign him during the summer – are also monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Despite strong interest a few months ago, Semenyo committed his future to Bournemouth by signing a new five-year contract at the Vitality Stadium.

Liverpool are already well aware of his threat, having seen him score twice during their dramatic opening-day win over the Cherries, in which the visitors overturned a two-goal deficit before Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah completed the comeback.

Semenyo is capable of playing across the front three but has been most effective from the right wing, where he has scored 11 goals in 36 appearances.

He is now just eight games away from reaching 100 Premier League appearances, having contributed 26 goals and 12 assists since joining from Bristol City in 2023.

Bournemouth general manager Tim Bezbatchenko earlier confirmed the club would not block Antoine Semenyo if Liverpool or Real Madrid come calling for the in-form forward.

“When a club like Real Madrid, Liverpool, PSG come in and they’re competing for Champions League positions, who are we to say, ‘No, you can‘t go, you can‘t fulfil your dream,’” Bezbatchenko told the Business of Sport podcast.

“But there is an opportunity and everybody wins, right? I think that’s what we’re trying to find, this commonality where everybody can win.”

DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed that Liverpool held preliminary talks with Bournemouth last weekend regarding a potential move for Semenyo.

The discussions are described as exploratory, with the Reds seeking to understand Bournemouth’s stance and the possible terms of a deal.

According to The Athletic, Bournemouth believe they may be powerless to prevent Semenyo’s departure as early as the upcoming January window.

The club would sanction a sale for around £65million, though the release clause must be triggered by a specific deadline to allow the Cherries sufficient time to secure a replacement.

If Bournemouth resist interest in the coming months, Semenyo could be available in the next transfer window, likely at a lower fee.
