Man City plot huge move for Real Madrid star

Manchester City will aim to continue their pursuit of the Premier League title when they face Newcastle United on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s side endured a stuttering start to the season but a run of six wins in eight games has lifted the Citizens up to second in the top flight table.

City now sit just four points behind leaders Arsenal after a 3-0 win over reigning champions Liverpool prior to the international break.

Their charge up the table has been spearheaded by talismanic forward Erling Haaland, who has netted 12 times in his last nine league games.

Despite Haaland’s excellent form, it appears that City boss Guardiola is keen to add another attacking star to his squad.

As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, via CaughtOffside, City are preparing to raid Spanish giants Real Madrid to sign midfielder Arda Guler.

The report claims that City boss Guardiola is keen to add the Turkey international to his squad as he believes that the player possesses the ideal skillset to replace the void left following Kevin de Bruyne’s departure at the end of last season.

City are said to be prepared to spend as much as £88 million on the 20-year-old, who has excelled in a new position this season.

Guler joined Real from Turkish side Fenerbahce back in 2023 and has since made 77 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing 17 assists.

This season Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has primarily used the Turkish star in a central attacking midfield role, as opposed to on the flank as he had previously been used most often.

The change of role appears to have had a positive impact on Guler, who has been in fine form this term, registering a combined eight goals and assists in 12 La Liga games.
