The Cincinnati Bengals’ season is already hanging in the balance after falling to 3-7 in NFL Week 11, but things just keeping getting worse for the AFC North team following the news that the league handed down Monday following their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The NFL revealed that they have suspended star Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase for one game after he was caught spitting in the face of Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey on Sunday. Ramsey was ejected from the Week 11 matchup, but now Cincinnati will be without its biggest receiving threat for next week’s meeting with the New England Patriots.

This season, Chase has constantly expressed his frustration with the Cincinnati defense’s poor showings despite the fact that the Bengals offense has consistently put up big points home and away.
Clearly the Bengals’ season hasn’t gone as expected, and without Chase and All-Pro quarterback Joe Burrow their offense will lose more juice against the number one seed Patriots. Cincinnati has lost three games in a row after their high-scoring win versus Pittsburgh, and Zac Taylor’s team has a brutal upcoming schedule beyond facing New England.

The Cincinnati Bengals still have to face the Baltimore Ravens twice, Buffalo Bills, as well as the resurgent Miami Dolphins before closing out the regular season with games against the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.
