Two European giants are coming to North America.
The Netherlands and Germany qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday.
The Oranje thrashed Lithuania 4-0, while Germany hammered Slovakia 6-0.
It’s a second straight World Cup and 11th overall for Ronald Koeman’s side. The Oranje got goals from Xavi Simons, Cody Gakpo, Donyell Malen and Tijjani Reijnders in the win. The victory gave the Netherlands top spot in Group G, forcing Poland to settle for the play-off.
The World Cup is a prize that has historically eluded the Oranje, who have finished as runners-up on three occasions with the most recent coming at Brazil 2014.
Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany head to a 21st World Cup and will look to turn the page on back-to-back disappointing tournaments. After winning their fourth World Cup at Brazil 2014, Germany has failed to get out of the group stage in two consecutive tournaments.
The team got goals from Assan Ouedraogo, Ridle Baku, Serge Gnabry, the red-hot Nick Woltemade and a brace form Leroy Sané in the win on Monday. The loss means Slovakia heads to the play-off.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, kicks off on June 11.
