If one did not watch the Green Bay Packers game against the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon, and instead just checked the box score afterwards, one would not come away impressed with quarterback Jordan Love. He finished the day having completed 13 of 24 passes for 174 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. However, he also had a passer rating of 105.2.
Those that did watch the game, though, would know that Love played a great deal better than the stats indicate. His completion percentage, after all, was torpedoed by his pass catchers dropping no less than six of his passes that hit them right in the hands.
Love also missed a series in the first half after injuring his left shoulder due to taking a brutal hit while he was scrambling. He came back to the game soon after, though, and led his team to victory, drawing high praise from head coach Matt LaFleur.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur praises Jordan Love, but wants him to be more careful
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) runs the ball as New York Giants safety Dane Belton (24) defends during a game at MetLife Stadium, Nov 16, 2025, East Rutherford, NJ, USA.
Despite the criticism many fans and national analysts hurled his way during the Packers’ two-game losing streak, Love has been playing extremely well, overall, this year. He showed why Green Bay felt comfortable making him their next franchise quarterback on Sunday, never losing his cool and leading the offense down the field for his fourth fourth-quarter comeback of the season.
On Monday, LaFleur said the following about Love’s performance (via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic):
That was a pretty big hit, one of those that you just, ‘C’mon, man. You can’t put yourself in those situations,’” LaFleur said. “But I thought he played his a– off yesterday. I really did. I thought he was throwing accurately. He showed a ton of toughness in the pocket. There were multiple times he’s getting hit pretty good from within the pocket and making throws, so I was really proud of his ability to come back into the game and just show that not only physical toughness, but the mental toughness to hang in there and continue to keep fighting.”
Obviously, it is pretty clear that LaFleur was not a fan of Love putting himself in a position to take the hit that he took on Sunday. The fact that he hurt his shoulder is clear evidence as to why.
That being said, Love has proven to his coaches, teammates, and fans that he is willing to do whatever it takes to win, including putting his body on the line.
So far this year, Love has a career-high 67.7% completion percentage to go with 2,421 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, just three interceptions, and an impressive 103.2 passer rating.
And Toyotathon has not even started yet.
