The Green Bay Packers improved to 6-3-1 on the season and snapped a two game losing streak with their 27-20 victory over the New York Giants at MetLife Field on Sunday afternoon. Despite a stat line that saw him complete just 13 of 24 passes, quarterback Jordan Love had a phenomenal game, earning a 105.2 passer rating for the day (his pass catchers had at least six drops).
However, Green Bay did not leave MetLife without suffering some significant losses. Running back Josh Jacobs injured his knee on the infamous turf known for causing several season-ending injuries. Fortunately for the Packers, there is no structural damage to Jacobs’ knee and he is considered week-to-week.
Unfortunately, though, Jacobs was not the only player who left the game with injury, and one of them is a player head coach Matt LaFleur thinks will be nearly impossible to replace.
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur says replacing Quay Walker is like replacing a quarterback

Linebacker Quay Walker did not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Packers prior to the regular season, but that is not because the team does not see him as a part of their future. In fact, they declined his option because they would rather sign him to a long-term extension.
It has been easy to see why Green Bay is so high on Walker based off of his play this season. Not only does he have 84 tackles and 1.5 sacks this season, he wears the “green dot” on defense, relaying plays to the defense from defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Additionally, his teammates voted him as a team captain this year due to his leadership both on and off the field.
During the game on Sunday, Walker had to leave due to suffering a stinger to his shoulder. He is now considered day-to-day and is not going to be out long, LaFleur is hopeful that he does not miss any time at all.
Like Josh Jacobs, Matt LaFleur said that Quay Walker is also going to be day-to-day with the stinger he suffered on Sunday. He’ll have a better idea of Walker’s status at practice on Wednesday, but in the meantime, he has full confidence in Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper.…

As one can see in the post above, LaFleur likened having to replace Walker to replacing a quarterback on offense. It is incredibly hard to do.
While the team likes both Isaiah McDuffie and Ty’Ron Hopper, they are not on the same level as Walker in terms of leadership and big-play ability.
Hopefully he will not be out long.
