New York Giants star Cam Skatteo might be unable to do damage on the football field due to injury, but he didn’t hesitate to go at it with several WWE stars during “Monday Night Raw.”
The latest episode of the professional wrestling program aired on Netflix from New York City’s Madison Square Garden, with John Cena making his final appearance on Raw. It was also Cena’s third-to-last appearance in a WWE ring before officially retiring from in-ring competition.
An early match got set up after Cena’s arrival to hype up the crowd, since Dominik Mysterio interrupted, and then had his Judgment Day stablemates, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, attack the WWE legend. However, Cena received backup from WWE stars Sheamus and Rey Mysterio, and they went on to defeat the Judgment Day in a six-man tag match.
Netflix returned from a commercial break after the huge opening match and revealed some of the celebrities on hand for the big event in NYC. Among them were comedian and actor Eric Andre, members of the Philadelphia Eagles, and comedian Andrew Schultz.
Schultz was seated next to several members of the New York Giants, including their injured rookie, Skattebo, who smiled, showing off his shiny grill.
WWE also showed what their cameras captured during the ad break. Judgment Day got into it with Schultz at the barricade, and Dom shoved him back into his seat. Then the Giants players stood up to provide some backup during the intense confrontation.
After Dom taunted Skattebo, McDonagh got into Skattebo’s face. The Giants’ rookie shoved McDonagh back, and he fell to the floor, but then the Judgment Day fought back, including throwing some punches at Skattebo and pushing back.
A video captured the incident, which appeared to involve significant contact for the injured NFL player.
About three weeks ago, Skattebo suffered a brutal ankle injury in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he was carted off the field. That dislocated ankle injury brought an end to his rookie season.
Skattebo then underwent emergency surgery the next night at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, and is likely involved in some rehabilitation to keep him on track for a return to start next season with the Giants. His recent Raw appearance is certainly curious with that recovery in mind.
In his eight games for the season, Skattebo achieved 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 rushing attempts. He also recorded 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns before his promising debut season was cut short.
