Opinion: Chelsea will sacrifice Marc Guiu for the sake of wonderkid's development

Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has a lot of talent and has already scored in the Champions League this season.

However, it is hard to imagine him having a long-term future at Stamford Bridge, as the Blues have several other centre-forwards.

Joao Pedro and Liam Delap are already part of Enzo Maresca’s squad, while Emanuel Emegha is set to join Chelsea in 2026.

There is also Dastan Satpaev, who has the potential to be the next big thing in European football.

Chelsea will prioritise Dastan Satpaev’s development over Marc Guiu

Satpaev is 17, while Guiu is only two years older. They will not coexist in the same squad.

Chelsea are likely to prioritise the development of one of the two while the other is eventually sold. Right now, you suspect that the Blues will invest in Satpaev.

Satpaev’s ceiling seems way higher as he continues to make an impact for both Kairat Almaty and the Kazakhstan national team.

Satpaev just scored in Kazakhstan’s 1-1 draw with Belgium, making him the youngest goalscorer in his nation’s history.

Guiu is not a bad footballer, but Satpaev’s potential is something else, with the Kazakhstan international already being compared to Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero.

Satpaev actually broke more than one record against Belgium, also becoming the youngest goalscorer for Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier since 1960.

Dastan Satpaev’s record for Kairat Almaty’s first team

Chelsea fans will not be reading too much into Satpaev’s record in the Kazakhstan Premier League, which is obviously not the strongest division in the world.

Still, to score so many goals in the senior game as a teenager is impressive. Satpaev is going up against grown men, but that has not stopped him from netting in the Kazakhstan Premier League or Champions League.

Who knows if Satpaev will make it at Chelsea, but the club are going to take a punt on him and perhaps at the expense of Guiu.
