Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden returned from a one-game absence due to a shoulder injury and saw action in Week 11’s 27-20 win against the New York Giants.
However, success downfield was hard to come by again for the former Texas Longhorns star wideout. Golden only saw three targets and caught just one of them for 24 receiving yards. Even with the absence of injured starting tight end Tucker Kraft, Golden continues to struggle in getting looks.
Against the Giants, quarterback Jordan Love went 13-of-24 for two touchdowns, while Malik Willis went 2-for-2 with at TD, but Green Bay barely had a use for Golden in the passing attack, as Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson shared most of the load downfield.

At the same time, Golden was probably still not feeling a hundred percent in Week 11, which contributed to his underwhelming showing.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that the team should gain clearer insight into his status by Wednesday.

On Matthew Golden, who was in and out of the lineup while playing through a shoulder injury: “I’ll have a better idea on Wednesday, where he’s at.”
Selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Packers, Golden continues to search for that breakout game that Green Bay fans have been waiting for. On the season, the 22-year-old Golden only has 286 receiving yards on 24 receptions and 32 targets for Green Bay, which is second in the NFC North standings with a 6-3-1 record.
