Liverpool fans will absolutely love what David Ornstein has said about potential £65m transfer

A hugely encouraging update has emerged regarding Liverpool’s pursuit of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, courtesy of reliable journalist David Ornstein.

The 25-year-old is arguably one of the best attacking players in the Premier League currently, scoring twice against the Reds on the opening weekend of this season.

Semenyo was linked with a move to Liverpool throughout the summer transfer window, but he ended up remaining at Bournemouth for the time being.

According to The Athletic‘s Ornstein on X, the Cherries may now be “powerless” about keeping hold of the Ghanaian in January, with a £65m release clause in his contract.

Bournemouth would rather retain Semenyo’s services until the end of the season, but that may be out of their hands if Liverpool or another club come in for him.

Semenyo ticks all the boxes for Liverpool

Semenyo stands out as an ideal option for Liverpool, during a time in which they need to be looking at new wingers, especially with Mohamed Salah’s form dropping off worryingly this season.

He is a genuine force out wide, combining powerful running with strong end product – he has scored six goals and registered three assists in the Premier League so far this season – with Bournemouth teammate Lewis Cook once heaping praise on him:

“As a team, we knew the quality he has and we saw that last year. He’s got to just keep working hard – being aggressive and being clinical. He’s got a lot better at running back and helping out the team too. He’s a powerful lad and has all the ability in the world. Hopefully he can continue to show that.”

Liverpool should be looking to sign Semenyo for £65m in January, even though they could potentially snap him up on the cheap in the summer window instead, with the Ghana international ticking all the boxes.

The Reds are badly in need of an injection of attacking quality midway through the season, even though Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak will surely come good, and they need to be considering Semenyo as one of the best options possible to rival Cody Gakpo for minutes on the left flank.
