It's pretty evident to every Philadelphia Eagles fan and media member that the team has at least one specific problem with their offense that needs to be addressed.
During the Eagles' 16-9 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 11, backup tight end Grant Calcaterra struggled in both pass and run blocking in the 30 snaps he was asked to play that specific role. This was so noticeable that many were asking why Cameron Latu, the team's tight end-turned-fullback and special teams ace, wasn't getting more reps at it.
One Eagles reporter asked head coach Nick Sirianni that question the day after the game. Before responding, Sirianni actually chuckled because he knew exactly what was being asked and read between the lines. He praised Latu, but stood by Calcaterra.
"You know, Cam's done a really good job for us on many different fronts. He's done awesome on special teams. He's a menace out there there on special teams with his physicality and with his ability to tackle and block destruct and block all those things he's doing well in space. Obviously, he's playing our fullback position. We're really pleased with the guys we have playing the tight end position. That doesn't mean that he can't go in there and function at a high level, but we're pleased with the guys we have in there and what they're doing."

Sirianni isn't exactly being proactive in getting a small problem solved on a struggling offense
Calcaterra, although he can be a solid receiving tight end, has struggled with his blocking all season. According to Pro Football Focus, he ranks 85th out of 88 eligible tight ends in run blocking. It was crystal clear in the Lions game that when Saquon Barkley was losing yards, it was usually when Calcaterra was either pulling or on one side by himself trying to handle Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson.
The hope is that Sirianni is only saying what he said to avoid embarrassing a player in front of the media, but this was a fair question. Latu is a significantly better blocker to the point that he was asked to move from tight end to fullback and has done a good job with it.
Moving Calcaterra off run blocking as a tight end won't solve many of their issues, but with the Eagles now dealing with Lane Johnson's injury, it certainly magnifies that decision. Philly might be forced to get Latu up front to help out with less support there, despite how much Eagles fans might love the replacement, Fred Johnson.

Let's hope Sirianni got the message from the media that they are aware of some of the problems and have a simple solution for them.
