A sourced report is claiming that Manchester United rejected the chance to sign two Chelsea players in the summer.

It would have come as part of a deal for Chelsea to sign a United player that they were looking to buy at the time.

Of course, in the end, Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea in the summer for a fee and no players went the other way – but that did not stop Chelsea trying.

ESPN are claiming that Manchester United turned down Chelsea’s offer of including Romeo Lavia or Christopher Nkunku as part of the deal that saw Alejandro Garnacho head to Stamford Bridge this summer.

It sounds mad that Chelsea would even consider selling Lavia despite his regular injury issues, but maybe there is something in this and these stories have to come from somewhere, right?

ESPN continue with their report to say that despite an acknowledgement that they need midfield reinforcements, United rejected Chelsea’s offer of including Lavia as part of the Garnacho transfer due to concerns over the Belgian’s fitness record.

Nkunku was also offered but they didn’t fancy him either and he ended up going to AC Milan instead.
