Alexander Isak has been advised what "simple fix" he can make in order to be a success at Liverpool. The Sweden international is yet to rediscover the same form he enjoyed at Newcastle United last season, which saw him earn his move to Anfield.

The Reds signed Isak from the Magpies on deadline day after a whirlwind summer transfer window full of speculation and rumours. In the end, Liverpool agreed a deal worth £125million to sign Isak and become the club's new No.9 following the departure of Darwin Nunez.

Isak has scored just one goal for Liverpool since his big-money move from St James' Park, having spent a large portion of the campaign either working on his fitness or recovering from an injury. The 26-year-old has not featured in any of the last five matches for Arne Slot's side, but was on the bench for the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City before the international break.

With Premier League football set to return this weekend, which will see Liverpool host Nottingham Forest at Anfield, Isak has been sent some advice from a former Manchester United striker. Dwight Yorke, who scored 123 goals in the top flight across his career, has explained why he believes Isak should change just one aspect of his game.

"Alexander Isak doesn’t need to do everything that he did at Newcastle," Yorke told Snabbare. "He’s got to fit in and recognise the quality around him at Liverpool. He just has to play as the nine.

"Be up there, hold the ball up, and get yourself into good goalscoring positions because, at the end of the day, you’ve got to get the goals.

"When I played for Villa, I used to come deep and link the play. Isak for Newcastle would come deep, dribble out into the wide areas and go past one or two defenders. He doesn’t need to do all that for Liverpool.

"They’ve got flying wingers to take care of it for him like Mohamed Salah and a midfield with real quality behind him.

"That’s the problem for Isak. Don’t come deep. When you start to do all of that stuff and you feel like you’re that player you end up losing time that you didn’t need to spend on those parts of your game.

"He has to recognise that he doesn’t need to do so much as an individual. Just be in your position. Put in the legwork. Do the simple things well. "That means holding up the ball, linking up the play up front and making sure his teammates can find him in the box. It's a simple fix. It's not complicated."
