Chelsea fans have their say on whether Antoine Semenyo would improve Enzo Maresca’s side

Chelsea could get the opportunity to sign one of the Premier League’s most in-form wingers in January, Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.

On Monday, it emerged that Semenyo has a £65m release clause in his contract that can be triggered as early as January, which is likely to alert some of Chelsea’s rivals.

Chelsea just signed Alejandro Garnacho, who has impressed lately, and have plenty of other wide options.

Should Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez to buy Elliot Anderson?

However, they may be tempted to make their own move for Semenyo now that they know he is available.

Chelsea fans split on Antoine Semenyo

Chelsea supporters on X cannot agree on whether the club should sign Semenyo or not. While some think he would improve the team, others are not so convinced.

One Chelsea fan thinks bringing Semenyo to Stamford Bridge is a must. He said: “No-brainer, beast.”

Another Chelsea supporter said: “Ahead of [Jamie] Gittens and Garna? Most definitely.”

One other Chelsea fan is also very much open to replacing Gittens with Semenyo: “Yes, sell Gittens.”

As for those who do not want the club to spend money on Semenyo, one supporter posted: “He’s either hugging the touchline or playing as a striker in [Enzo] Maresca’s team. Brilliant player, but I’d pass.”

Another user on X does not think Maresca needs him. “No! I speak for everyone when I say we don’t need him.”

And another said the very same thing: “We don’t need him!”

While there is nothing to suggest that Chelsea will actually make a move for Semenyo, they have been linked with the 25-year-old before.

In March, it was claimed that Chelsea were interested in signing Semenyo ahead of the start of this season.

Antonie Semenyo’s stats this season

Semenyo is having another strong campaign, so it would not be a shock if someone triggered his release clause during the winter transfer window.

In 11 Premier League appearances, the Ghana international has scored six goals and provided three assists.

Another thing that clubs will like about him is his versatility. Semenyo can play on both flanks and up front.

Chelsea currently have Garnacho, Gittens, Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto, though. Bearing that in mind, it is unlikely that Semenyo will be a priority for them in the new year.
