Andy Robertson is now the Scotland captain and one of the most recognisable faces in the world of football.
But the left-back probably never thought he would be in such a situation when he was let go by Celtic in 2009.
Robertson is a boyhood Celtic fan, and it, no doubt, would have been one of the most heartbreaking moments in his career when he couldn’t push through the gates of Parkhead.
But, as it was discussed on Go Radio, the Liverpool player has shown the rising football stars of today just how to pick yourself up.

Andy Robertson, from Celtic rejection to Scotland captain
On Tuesday, Scotland face Denmark in a huge World Cup qualifier at Hampden, with the winner booking their ticket to football’s greatest stage next summer.
Charlie Mulgrew, Barry Ferguson, and host Cooney lauded and applauded Robertson, including what he has done since being let go by Celtic, and how he is an example to all.
Cooney: “Just applauding Andy Robertson, (set to win) his 90th cap for Scotland against Denmark. 90 caps, it’s amazing, isn’t it?! Wow.”
Mulgrew: “I remember his first training session. He did a game for the U21s. We were training with Gordon Strachan at Hampden. Gordon wanted to do 11 v 11, so he would often bring up the U21s.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
“But the ones that came up were the ones that didn’t play because they had a game the night before, so Andy didn’t play left-back. Somebody started ahead of him.
“Andy came up, and he was unreal at Hampden. 11 v 11. Everybody was like, ‘Who’s that young boy? Young skinny boy.’ The next squad, I am sure he was in it, and he then just kicked on from there.
“Dundee United. Signed for Hull shortly after, and then got his move to Liverpool.”
Ferguson: “He got let go by Celtic, didn’t he, as a youngster?! He went to Queen’s Park. It’s a brilliant story.
“That just tells you. It’s good for the young kids coming through, if they do get let go by the bigger teams, that never give up. Keep working hard, and look where it has got Andy Robertson.”
Robertson to make a return to Celtic?
Robertson is no longer a regular at Liverpool, and at the age of 31, there is talk around his future at Anfield.
There have been suggestions that Robertson could return to Celtic next summer when his contract at Liverpool expires.
Nobody has said anything official, but there is no smoke without fire. Either way, his career speaks for itself.
