New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is still in the hospital after being shot in Manhattan in the early hours of Sunday morning, with a bullet still reportedly lodged in his lung.
Boyd was shot twice in the abdomen after visiting the Sei Less restaurant in Manhattan. Police say that the Jets' cornerback was shot just after 2 a.m. ET, after two cars pulled up outside the establishment, opened fire, and then fled the scene.

According to ABC News, Boyd is still being treated at Bellevue Hospital and is in a critical but stable condition. Boyd has undergone several procedures, but according to ABC News, a bullet remains lodged in his lung.

Boyd reportedly left the restaurant after feeling a bad "vibe" and was later shot. "We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time," a Jets spokesperson told ESPN.
On Monday, the New York Police Department released two images of a person they believe could be linked to the shooting. The NYPD described the person as "male, medium complexion," and said, "He was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multicolored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag."
A close friend of Boyd's, who was not at the scene, confirmed that the Jets cornerback was in good condition. "He’s all good right now. He’s in good condition. He’s doing real good. He’s a soldier, through tough times. He’s fine... he’s fine."

The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made. The shooting incident shocked Boyd's teammates at the Jets, who wished him well when they returned to training on Monday after losing to the New England Patriots.
"I know some players who've communicated with him, I personally have not," defensive tackle Harrison Phillips told the Jets' official website. "I just know there's been a lot of answered prayers.
"It's a blessing to know that he's in stable condition, surrounded by his family with a lot of support around him, definitely for where the news originally was reported. There's a lot of panic and a lot of emotion that goes into that.

"Not to lighten the situation, but I think people are … we're a little more grateful knowing that he's in stable condition now. I'll say something about KB, though … just such an energetic, such a positive person."

Phillips also spent time with Boyd on the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Jets. "And that year in '22 we spent together, he was someone – as I was a new person [after four seasons with Buffalo] – who welcomed me with open arms, because he's just so positive, wanting to know everybody, playing games, joking all the time.

"And even my time here with him, he's still got that upbeat positivity, even while being on IR [injured reserve]. And I can't wait to see a smile on his face again."
Linebacker Jermaine Johnson showed his support on social media and wrote, "Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen."
