Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams made a strong impression in his debut with the Dallas Cowboys. While they carry heavy emotions after the tragic death of Marshawn Kneeland last week, the Cowboys entered this game with high expectations regarding Williams’ debut.
The former New York Jets star did not disappoint, as he joined Eric Kendricks, Greg Hardy and La’Roi Glover in an exclusive club. The 27-year-old veteran recorded team highs of 1.5 sacks and five quarterback hits, adding a tackle for loss and four total tackles. He became the fourth Cowboy since 1982 with at least 1.5 sacks in his first game.

After the game was over, with the Cowboys heading home with a 33-16 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Williams lauded his teammates for facilitating his job.
“All I just kind of needed to do was do my job,” he said, via The Athletic. “Having a great group of guys around me makes it easier for me. … I don’t think one guy can change anything. I think the team itself, the guys around you, all 11 on the field, the coaching staff (all) makes the difference. One man doesn’t do nothing. This is not golf. It’s not tennis.
“Everybody on this team has to do their job. Everybody in this organization has to do a job to the best of our ability to win football games.”

Williams added that if they continue to play at this level, the Cowboys could have a solid defense moving forward.
“Everybody is not perfect,” Williams said. “But if we can continue to stack the good things and delete the bad things, I think we can transcend to be a great defense.”

The Cowboys limited the Raiders to 236 total yards, 4.1 yards per play and 58 total plays. They improved to 4-5-1 with this win, and now will return to AT&T Stadium to host the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, in a duel that can turn their season around.
