Enzo Fernandez injury update ahead of Burnley vs Chelsea with midfielder struggling with knee pain - journalist

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez did not join up with Argentina over the international break.

Considering that, Chelsea fans would have been hoping for the 24-year-old to get plenty of rest so that he is ready for the trip to Burnley this weekend.

Fernandez has played a lot of football this season, making 16 appearances in all competitions.

While Blues fans will be keen to see him add to that on Saturday, the Argentine has been struggling with an injury.

Enzo Fernandez should be fit for trip to Turf Moor

Journalist Simon Phillips has shared on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Fernandez is suffering from knee pain and tendinopathy.

Even so, Phillips has claimed that the Argentina international should still be “OK” for the Premier League match against Burnley in a huge boost to Enzo Maresca.

While Fernandez looks set to feature, Maresca could be forced to rest Moises Caicedo after all of the travelling that he has done over this international break.

Fernandez recently spoke about Caicedo, explaining how he helped convince the Ecuadorian to join Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Enzo Fernandez put in a really offensive performance last time out against Wolves

Fernandez has become such an important player for Chelsea in attacking phases of play, so he will be needed at Turf Moor, which can be a tricky ground to go to.

He was not able to score against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out, but the former Benfica man finished the game with a total of five shots to his name, as per Sofascore. Fernandez also managed to create one big chance and register two key passes.

Simply put, Fernandez can play a key role in breaking down Burnley at the weekend. Cole Palmer is a doubt for Barcelona, giving him zero chance of making the matchday squad this Saturday.

With that in mind, Chelsea are going to need Fernandez on the pitch and their attackers at their best. Alejandro Garnacho, Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian all shone against Wolves. Hopefully they can do the same at Turf Moor.
