The Golden State Warriors cruised past the New Orleans Pelicans 124-106 on Sunday night, but the win wasn’t the biggest headline. During the second quarter, Draymond Green confronted a courtside fan who repeatedly taunted him by chanting “Angel Reese” after a series of missed shots and self-rebounds.

Draymond Green’s reaction to the sideline moment and NBA’s response
The incident unfolded after Green fouled Pelicans forward Herbert Jones. As play stopped, a fan, later identified as 35-year-old Sam Green of New Orleans, continued mocking the Warriors star by calling him “Angel Reese.” The chant referred to Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese’s knack for grabbing her own missed shots, a jab at Draymond’s rebounding stretch.
Green walked up to the fan and stood face-to-face, visibly frustrated. After the game, Draymond explained his side, saying, “He just kept calling me a woman. It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way.” He also shared that referee Courtney Kirkland told him, “I got it. I’ve heard him over and over and over again. You’ve handled it well. Don’t get yourself in no trouble. I’ll take care of it.”

The fan later told ESPN that while he didn’t use profanity, he was surprised that Draymond “walked 12 feet off the court” to confront him. “It was a little unnerving,” he said. Security issued the fan a warning but did not eject him.

Following the incident, the NBA issued Draymond Green an official warning for his “interaction with a vocal fan,” as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. No fine was imposed. The league considered Green’s behavior non-escalatory but reminded him of player-fan conduct policies.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr backed his veteran, saying, “As long as it doesn’t escalate, it’s fine for a player to have a discussion. It would’ve been nice if security got there a bit earlier.”

Draymond finished the night with eight points and 10 rebounds and just 8 points. Despite the warning, he shrugged off the drama afterwards, saying simply, “He got quiet, though, so it was fine. We move on.”
