The Philadelphia Eagles have won four in a row and are 8-2 on the season, and much of that is thanks in part to their defense, which has shown significant improvement over the last several weeks.
However, the Eagles are still lacking a dominant pass rusher, even after acquiring Jaelan Phillips from the Miami Dolphins at the trade deadline (and Phillips is slated to hit free agency this offseason).
You have to figure that addressing the pass rush will be a priority for Philadelphia after the 2025 campaign concludes, and it was already reported just before the deadline that Philly had expressed serious interest in trading for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay has revisited a potential Eagles-Browns deal that would send Garrett to Philadelphia, and he has proposed a trade in which Garrett would head to Philly in exchange for three first-round draft picks.
“After rating as the league’s top total defense in 2024, Philly has fallen to the middle of the pack in that category. The club also took a step back in sacks and has accumulated a lowly 21 across the first 10 games of 2025,” Kay wrote. “If the Eagles continue to struggle and crash out of the playoffs early, Garrett would be the perfect addition to help this squad return to prominence in 2026.”
There had been speculation that Philadelphia was willing to trade a trio of first-rounders to Cleveland for Garrett prior to the trade deadline. That has never been confirmed, and it definitely seems odd given how stingy general manager Howie Roseman typically is with draft capital. But Philly might be willing to do it for Garrett.
Garrett has already racked up 39 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 15 sacks this season. He has amassed 10 sacks over the last three games alone and is just two sacks away from breaking his career high of 16.
The 29-year-old signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Browns back in March, a pact that will take him through 2030. Given the cap hit Cleveland would have to absorb in order to move Garrett, an offseason trade seems unlikely, although it would certainly be tough for the Browns to pass on three first-round draft choices.
The Eagles will face the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday.
