Netflix Nov. 18 announced that NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irwin and WWE’s Seth Rollins will join the streamer’s exclusive distribution of “NFL Christmas Gameday” featuring the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders from Washington, D.C., at 1 pm ET (11 am ET live pregame show); and the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings from Minneapolis at 4:30 pm ET (4 pm ET live pregame show).
Returning on-air talent includes the father-son duo of Ian and Noah Eagle, Kay Adams, Manti Te’o, and Nate Burleson, among others.
Last year’s Christmas Day games on Netflix featuring the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers drew 30 million average global views, while the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans attracted 31.3 million average global views, according to Netflix. The two games averaged 26.5 million U.S. viewers, according to the Nielsen.
In keeping with the NFL’s long-standing holiday tradition, the Netflix Christmas Day games will also air on local CBS TV affiliates in the competing team cities, and be available on U.S. mobile devices with NFL+.
Netflix is again using third-party sources to produce and deliver the games, including CBS Sports (which normally live-streams games on Paramount+), with NFL Media producing the pre, post, and halftime programming. EverWonder Studio will executive produce NFL Christmas Gameday.
