The New York Giants are awaiting the return of their superstar rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart.
The Ole Miss product was absent from their Week 11 contest as he dealt with a concussion suffered in the team’s Week 10 loss.
However, Dart began practicing again last week, progressing through the concussion protocol at a proper pace. Now, he is expected to clear protocol and make his return in Week 12.
Giants expect Jaxson Dart to clear concussion protocol this week
According to Connor Hughes of SNY, Dart is expected to clear concussion protocol this week.
This would put him in line to start against the Detroit Lions on the road this Sunday. The 2-9 Giants will be heavy underdogs against the 6-4 Lions. However, Dart will give them a chance to compete, as he has in every one of his first seven starts.
Dart has thrown for 1,417 yards with a 10-3 TD-INT ratio in those starts while also adding 317 yards and seven touchdowns rushing.

Jameis Winston filled in for Dart in last week’s contest, and he is expected to remain the QB2 behind Dart on the depth chart for the remainder of the season. Russell Wilson is expected to be the QB3.
Dart’s impressive start to his career has him in contention for end-of-season accolades. He is one of the betting favorites for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Sunday’s contest will be Dart’s first without Brian Daboll, who was relieved of his duties as head coach following the team’s Week 10 loss. Interim head coach Mike Kafka will lead Dart and the Giants in Week 12.
