The Boston Celtics (7-7) will try to move above .500 for the first time this season when they face the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night on the road. Boston’s G-League affiliate — the Maine Celtics — meanwhile, are looking to reach .500 for the time in their young campaign as they will enter Friday night’s game vs. the Delaware Blue Coats at 2-3. CelticsBlog’s Noa Dalzell analyzed four of Maine’s “standouts” through the early goings on Tuesday, including guard/forward Ron Harper Jr. “Ron Harper Jr. has been the star for the Maine Celtics so far, and he’s also the player who appears to be the closest to being a real NBA player,” Dalzell wrote. “Harper Jr. is on his fourth two-way contract and has already appeared in (three) games with the Boston Celtics, and joined the Celtics on their Orlando/Philadelphia road trip last week.” The son of former five-time NBA champion Ron Harper has averaged 25.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists across four contests with Maine this year. Story continues below advertisement Dalzell called Harper Jr. the “engine of (Maine’s) offense in the early days.” The 25-year-old appeared in a career-high nine games with the Toronto Raptors during the 2022-23 campaign but played in only one NBA contest in each of the last two seasons. Harper Jr.’s averaged just 2.7 points, 1.0 rebound, 1.0 assist and 5.0 minutes per game across three games with Boston this season, but like teammate Amari Williams, could find his way back in Beantown soon.
