The Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed that quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a fractured left wrist in Sunday's 34-12 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Rodgers landed heavily on his left wrist after being tackled at the end of the second quarter, when the Steelers were in the red zone on second-and-goal. Rodgers stayed on the field for the next play before kicker Chris Boswell converted a field goal.

Backup quarterback Mason Rudolph played in the second half as Rodgers stayed in the locker room, and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that the veteran would seek further evaluation on Monday. A wrist fracture has been confirmed, but Rodgers is still pushing to play in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears.

Though Rodgers has suffered a fracture, it's the wrist of his non-throwing hand. The four-time MVP will need to be cleared by doctors before attempting to play on Sunday, and his practice schedule this week is unknown.

Rodgers also won't need surgery, as the fracture is minor. While the Steelers would prefer to have Rodgers on the field against Chicago, Rudolph proved his worth after re-signing with the organization this past offseason.

Rudolph went 12-for-16 with 127 yards and one touchdown after replacing Rodgers, as both quarterbacks found running back Kenneth Gainwell in the end zone from close range.

Rodgers was 9-for-15 with 116 yards and one touchdown against the Bengals before being replaced.

While Tomlin had no further comment to make on Rodgers' injury after the victory over Cincinnati, he did reveal that the veteran was delighted with the win. "He was excited about the win," Tomlin said.

"I just talked to him, but that's all we talked about. We didn't talk about his injury. We talked about the significance of the win."

Rudolph was also asked about the injury situation and explained how he was approached before playing the second half. "I saw what you guys saw, which was (Rodgers) kind of go down gingerly a little bit, but I wasn't sure of the severity, and I'm still really not sure, either," Rudolph said.

"We talked in the locker room, and he told me, he gave me the finger -- not the bad finger, but the index -- and said you're going in."

The Steelers selected Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft, but he left as a free agent after six seasons. Rudolph joined the Tennessee Titans last season, but re-signed with Pittsburgh on a two-year, $8 million deal earlier this year.

"Mason's proven in the past what he showed today," Tomlin said after Rudolph helped lead the Steelers to victory.

"That's why we value him as a member of this collective and are appreciative of his play -- and certainly Kenny Gainwell made play after play for us, winning in the flat and so forth, but a lot of guys did."

The Steelers are top of the AFC North with a 6-4 record, but the Baltimore Ravens are one win behind.

The Bears are enjoying a strong season and are currently at the top of the NFC North with seven wins, although the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers are close behind.
