Opinion: Christian Eriksen spotted one thing Troy Parrott does that Everton are missing right…

Everton are exploring a deal to sign Republic of Ireland and AZ Alkmaar striker Troy Parrott this winter transfer window.

Writing in his exclusive Everton News column, Alan Myers reported that a striker is on David Moyes’ wishlist this January.

Ivan Toney has been linked, but Myers doesn’t expect that deal to materialise. Joshua Zirkzee has also been mooted, but Manchester United’s first-choice forward Benjamin Sesko has picked up an injury, so that transfer may also be off the table.

Troy Parrott seems like Everton’s most realistic transfer target, and Moyes’ scouts watched him score twice against Portugal last week.

Is Troy Parrott the perfect January signing for Everton?

Parrott also brings something that Moyes’ side are currently lacking, according to his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen said Troy Parrott’s movement is unbelievable

Everton have been held back by Thierno Barry and Beto this season, with the £60m strikeforce netting just one Premier League goal.

Both have shown to be pretty profligate in front of goal and FBref data shows they don’t get into great areas either, with their movement in the box poor.

That, however, isn’t an issue for Parrott, and Christian Eriksen said back in 2019 that his movement is ‘brilliant’

“For a player so young, he is a great striker who makes brilliant runs and scores with excellent finishes,” the former Spurs star said.

“Troy is not a shy guy. He stands his ground against defenders.”

As evinced by the table below, Parrott comes alive in the box and is able to put himself in much better positions than Everton’s current forwards.

Beto 5.12

Everton face serious competition for Troy Parrott

According to TEAMtalk, Juventus and Bayern Munich are also keeping a close eye on Parrott ahead of the transfer window.

Leeds United have also been named a potential suitor, so clearly, Everton have some serious competition to beat.

The Toffees will certainly have to assure him regular game time, which Moyes has failed to deliver for Tyler Dibling.

That will no doubt be a concern for Parrott, who is at a crucial stage of his career as he ponders his next destination.

Moyes hasn’t given Adam Aznou a single minute, either, so evidently the Scotsman is quite cautious with his younger players.
