Philadelphia Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata reacted to Derrick Gunn’s report on Jalen Hurts’ current relationship with the coaches. Over the weekend, Diana Russini of The Athletic reported that several teammates were unhappy with Hurts’ approach on the field.
On Monday, Gunn added that the frustrations have transcended from the players to the coaching staff. Mailata reacted to this report on 94 WIP Radio, calling out whoever aired that the coaches aren’t happy with Hurts’ actions.

“It’s kinda crazy that someone inside the organization would do that,” Mailata said. “But then again, we ain’t gonna worry about that. Tell you what, I am going to worry about, doing my damn job. Got enough problems there.”
So, what exactly did Gunn say? The reporter, who is one of the most respected among Eagles fans, said on Monday’s edition of the “Seth Joyner Show” that the quarterback coach, the offensive coordinator and the head coach have seen Hurts work with them every week, only to play however he likes in games.
Gunn noted that Hurts often wastes time in the pocket, patting the ball.

“It’s frustrating, in a lot of ways, to the coaching staff,” Gunn said. “And to the players. Extremely frustrating to the players. Because when they look at the film, the next day or a few days later, they see what’s available out there and what should’ve happened, and it didn’t happen, that’s frustrating to them as well.
“I’m just basically telling you there’s a lot of people in that organization that are frustrated with the quarterback situation right now. But the quarterback understands he has them over a barrel. This is almost Carson Wentz part two. They’re not going to eat this kind of money yet.“

Many criticize Hurts for his conservative approach as a passer. Out of the 10 games he has played this season, he has recorded less than 200 yards in six. He hasn’t posted more than 183 yards in the last three games, with the Eagles scoring 26 points combined in the past two matchups.
The A.J. Brown drama appears to be in the past, but now Hurts reportedly faces other challenges while he tries to lead the Eagles to a second consecutive Super Bowl win.
