The Green Bay Packers have one of the best defenses in the NFL. That was the case last season as well, but adding Micah Parsons to the mix is an obvious improvement.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t done much to help Rashan Gary. Most people expected the defensive lineman to have a career year with Parsons by his side, but that hasn’t been the case.

Analyst Justis Mosqueda recently revealed a concerning trend with Gary’s impact.

“Rashan Gary’s quick pressure rate this year is the worst of any of his NFL seasons,” Mosqueda wrote on X.

Parsons is one of the most double-teamed players in the league. He opens up space for everybody else, yet it seems like Gary hasn’t made the most of that. While never a superstar, he was a well-respected and productive pass rusher, and the fact that he’s regressed instead of improving is somewhat head-scratching.

Fortunately, coordinator Jeff Hafley’s defense has still been able to hold its own more often than not. In the Packers’ three losses, they’ve given up an average of 13.0 points per game. Yet that doesn’t mean Gary should be off the hook.

The Packers have everything they need to be considered a legitimate Super Bowl contender. They will need everybody at their best for that to happen, and they need to figure out how to maximize their veteran pass rusher.

Green Bay has a recent history of underperforming in the playoffs. It can’t afford to do that again, and Gary has to step up, just like everybody else.
