Lakers' LeBron James Gets Brutally Honest About Latest Injury

The season debut of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James could be upon us as early as Tuesday night.

The Lakers are set to host the Utah Jazz, and there is a chance that James will make his season debut. James has yet to play this season due to sciatica on his right side.

He’s missed the first 14 games of the season, but Tuesday could finally be his return to the court. It was the first time in his career that he missed a season opener as he’s dealt with some of the worst pain of his life.

James has been, what appeared to be for a long period of time, immune to injury or pain. The 40-year-old superstar has been durable throughout his career, but during his Lakers tenure, that has far from been the case. Injuries have taken a toll on the 21-time All-Star, and he recently revealed that this is not the first time he’s dealt with this particular injury.

While speaking to the press on Monday, James revealed that he had a sciatica injury about two years ago.

“You ever had it? Anybody ever had it?” James asked reporters during a media scrum on Monday.

“I’ve had it, I had it two years ago … if you had it, then you know what the hell it’s about. If you ain’t never had it … people making jokes about it, I pray you never get it. It’s not fun.”

James will soon enter his 23rd season in the league. He’s played the most minutes compared to anybody else in the sport. When you have played for as long as he has, injuries, especially this one in particular, come as no surprise.

With the four-time NBA champion revealing he has dealt with this injury before, he is familiar with the rehab and recovery process to overcome it. It appears he’s taken the necessary steps to do so, and we will soon find out if Tuesday is the day he finally returns to the court.
