Nicolas Jackson’s loan move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich hasn’t been a resounding success.
As backup to Harry Kane, the Chelsea loanee was never going to be the star man at the Allianz Arena, but perhaps he was expected to do a bit more with the limited opportunities he’s been given.
Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl has been impressed by Jackson at times, but his form has tailed off in recent weeks.
That has led to speculation over a possible early return to Stamford Bridge. Jackson doesn’t want to come back to Chelsea, but players — especially those on loan — rarely have the final say. That lies with the club, and Bayern’s stance is now clearer.

Bayern Munich won’t offload Nicolas Jackson in January
Since making the switch to the Bundesliga, Jackson has scored just once in the league. He has two goals in the Champions League, but hasn’t reached the levels he showed during his best period at Chelsea.
Both Jackson and Chelsea will be pleased to hear that the German giants aren’t looking to cut his loan move short.
As Dean Jones revealed for TEAMTALK: “There has been no definite decision made yet on keeping him [past this season], and Jackson still has the situation in his own hands to some extent.”
“There have been some suggestions that he could leave Bayern in January, but that is not going to happen, from what I have been told. They will keep him for the season.”
For Jackson, it gives him the opportunity to change the minds of those in Munich, and Chelsea don’t need another striker in the dressing room this season, or in the future for that matter.
🚨 Nicolas Jackson: “I don’t focus on my 40 starts… I just want to do my best for Bayern”.

Bayern still not convinced by Jackson in the long-term
While Bayern’s willingness to keep the Senegalese striker past January is encouraging, Jones goes on to explain that it’s not all good news.
He continues: “Bayern are continuing to monitor the market for other strikers as they are not convinced the Jackson deal is going to work out, so let’s see what happens.
“There are plenty of games left in the season for him to turn this around … but to view the situation for what it is at this stage, Bayern will not sign him on a permanent deal.”
That’s a problem for both the player and his parent club.
With Datsan Satpayev and Emanuel Emegha incoming, and Joao Pedro and Liam Delap already in the side, it doesn’t look like Jackson has a future in West London.
Not to mention the quality Chelsea’s academy continues to provide.
Would Endrick be a good signing for Chelsea?
And he won’t find a better suitor than the German champions. Kane has an argument for best player in the world this season, but at 32, he won’t be starting under Vincent Kompany forever. If Jackson impressed Bayern, he could be next in line for that mantle.
As it stands, Bayern haven’t seen enough to commit past the end of the season.
