Birmingham City have grand plans to increase the capacity of their stadium in the future

Birmingham City’s ambitious owners are hoping to get them to the Premier League in the near future. They have grand plans to build a new stadium. The Blues are making strong progress both on and off the pitch at the moment.

They were relegated to League One last year and won the title at the first time of asking. Their time in the third tier was an opportunity to rebuild and get into the habit of winning matches. Chris Davies’ men were promoted to the Championship along with Wrexham and Charlton Athletic.

Birmingham City’s season so far

Birmingham have endured a mixed start to life back in the Championship. They have struggled for consistency and will hope to find their feet properly when they return after the international break. The Blues find themselves in 11th place in the table after their first 11 fixtures and are four points off the play-offs behind Hull City and Millwall.

Davies’ side were busy on the recruitment front over the summer. They delved into the market to bring in the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Tommy Doyle and Demarai Gray, among others, to bolster their ranks. It has taken a bit of time for all their new additions to gel together.

Birmingham will get the chance to sign some more players in the January transfer window. They will also get the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed. That would help free up space and funds in their squad.

The Blues lost 2-1 away at Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in their last game. They weren’t able to find an equaliser against Boro and slumped to a defeat. Next up is a home clash against Norwich City this weekend as they look to return to winning ways and close the gap on the top six.
