Federico Chiesa has struggled to earn regular starts under Liverpool manager Arne Slot despite a strong start to the season in terms of goal contributions.
The winger has managed just 344 minutes across 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
This limited game time comes despite several positive individual performances, as Chiesa was even named Liverpool’s Player of the Month in September, having scored twice and provided three assists.
Chiesa made himself unavailable again for Italy’s remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers, according to manager Gennaro Gattuso.
“I often talk to him. We have to respect the decisions and problems that each of us has,” the Italy boss said.
“We know well what we tell each other, and I must respect what the player tells me. I can’t say anything else.”
Meanwhile, Napoli are showing interest in the 28-year-old.
According to Napoli Magazine, discussions are underway with Chiesa’s agent, with the idea of negotiating a loan move to Napoli, potentially including an option to buy.
It remains unclear whether Liverpool, who are unlikely to oppose Chiesa’s departure, would seek to include an obligation to buy.
Napoli’s valuation of Chiesa is between €12–13million, with the club hoping to reach an agreement with the player first.
The Serie A giants believe this will strengthen their negotiating position with Liverpool without exceeding €15million.
For Napoli, Chiesa could represent a key signing to relaunch their attack and bolster their chances of success in the league and Champions League.
Chiesa is a priority target for Antonio Conte, who, alongside Romelu Lukaku’s recovery, is seeking a goal-scoring winger capable of making Napoli’s attack more dynamic and unpredictable.
Chiesa, who has scored 47 career goals in Serie A, impressed Liverpool enough to justify their £10million plus add-ons signing in August 2024.
During his time in Italy, he scored three goals in 14 league appearances against Napoli while representing Fiorentina and Juventus.
