Taylor Lewan Says He’d Let T.J. Watt Spit In His Face To Squash Beef Between Them

Ja’Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey added a little extra fire to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ recent game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The two got into an altercation and Ramsey got ejected. However, it was later revealed that Chase provoked Ramsey by spitting on him. Now, Chase is suspended. It’s not the first time a Steeler has been involved in a dispute after being spit on, though. Former Tennessee Titans offensive tackle Taylor Lewan spit on T.J. Watt in 2017. Lewan is willing to go to great lengths to show that he’s sorry now, though.

“If T.J. Watt ever wants to spit in my face, I will take it, and I will do nothing about it,” Lewan said Tuesday on Up and Adams with Kay Adams. “I’m talking we can loogie, the whole thing. [2017] Taylor [Lewan] is way different than 2025 Taylor. I look at that now and I’m like, ‘Whoa, what were we doing?’ That being said, it happened, and he deserves to get something on me for sure.”

Lewan has apologized several times before, but Watt hasn’t made any comment in response, at least publicly. That’s not too surprising. Lewan didn’t just spit on Watt. He also hit Watt in the crotch once. It’s easy to see why Watt isn’t quick to forgive Lewan.

Maybe Watt will take Lewan up on his offer. The former offensive lineman is clearly done defending himself. Perhaps a little revenge would sweeten the deal for Watt to forgive him.

However, any kind of interaction between the two likely won’t come until the offseason. The Steelers are about to enter the most important part of their season. The playoffs will be here soon, and Pittsburgh wants to secure its spot. Watt wants to add a postseason win to his resumé, so that’s likely got all of his attention at the moment.

We’ll see if Watt ever decides to acknowledge Lewan’s apology. Ultimately, it’s his decision. It’s hard to blame him if he chooses not to. The situation between Chase and Ramsey has shown how disrespectful spitting on a player is. Lewan escaped his encounter with Watt without a suspension. Now, he’s trying to find some way to make it up to the pass rusher.
