PHIL PARKINSON is resigned to being without Issa Kabore for at least six weeks.
The wing-back has been in excellent form since joining Wrexham on a season-long loan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day.
However, the 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury whilst on international duty with Burkina Faso.
Although they missed out on a World Cup qualification play-off place, Burkina Faso arranged two friendlies during the international break and Kabore was taken off during Friday's 3-2 win against Niger in Morocco and is now facing a spell on the sidelines.
"It is really unfortunate for Issa," said Parkinson, who has named Kabore in the side for Wrexham's last 10 Championship matches.
"He's obviously playing well and it looks like it is going to be at least a six-week injury.
"When I got the call over the break that Issa was injured, obviously it wasn't the best call to take from (physio) Kevin Mulholland.
"But it's always that risk when players are travelling long distances and playing, they can get an injury, and I'm sure there are other teams who will have lost players through this international break."
Burkina Faso have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations which take place in Morocco from December 21 and January 18 but Kabore's participation, if selected, is in doubt.
"Issa's been a great character to have with us and we'll get him back," added Parkinson.
"It will be a combination of treatment from Manchester City, because he lives close to the training ground, and with us as well.
"Obviously, the Africa Cup of Nations is coming up as well.
"I've watched a couple of games and Issa seems to be one of the important players, but obviously he's got to be fit and that's going to be touch and go."
